Multicaixa / EMISAngola's national card scheme and ATM/POS network, with a de facto monopoly on domestic transactions. The market is often missing from overviews of Africa, even though it processes billions of transactions.EMIS – Empresa Interbancária de Serviços SARL (owned by Banco Nacional de Angola and Angolan banks) · since 1998About 3.4 billion transactions on the Multicaixa network in 2025 (up 47.9%); more than 53 million QR code payments (EMIS, 2025 annual report). ⚠️ The monetary values published by Angolan sources contradict each other (Kz 69 “mil milhões” in some, Kz 19.7 “biliões” for Multicaixa Express alone in others). Treat the amounts as unreliable for now; the transaction counts, however, are consistent.
